High-availability for interconnecting PTP synchronized systems over IP in an Audio Broadcasting system
In the last years, the technology for audio and video broadcasting has moved from dedicated equipment and physical cabling between them to a highly software and IP based solution. The headends are now based on comercial computers with broadcasting applications loaded on them and implementing the different functionalities required in these systems: multiplexers, converters, etc.
This convergence to IP systems offers end-users the opportunity to choose among a wide range of Ethernet solutions available in the market and supporting the PTP syncrhonization demanded by audio video systems. Based on the experience of the Electric sector, HSR and PRP “Zero Packet Loss” protocols, with support for PTP syncrhonization, turn out to be the perfect solution to guarantee high-availability in this new scenario.
- RELY-PCIe Time-aware Redbox-DAN-Switch PCIe NIC allows to provide direct access to HSR/PRP/PTP networks to these new multipurpose computers used in audio video broadcasting systems.
- RELY-RB and RELY-RB+2 Time-aware Redbox Switch: combines HSR/PRP redundant Ethernet links with regular Ethernet ones in a single equipment and allows to retrofit legacy devices with no HSR/PRP communication capabilities.
- RELY-REC Time-aware Network Recorder: includes means for continuous network monitoring and time parameters measuring (jitter, offse, latency, etc.). This equipment integrates advanced technologies to support combined PTP and HSR/PRP GbE topologies.
